Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription

Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, Beautiful alone is easy. Beautiful and meaningful can be quite hard.

This past weekend I realized that it was around this time a few years ago that my friend Sarah Habibi contacted me about a project for an upcoming release from The Criterion Collection. It turned out to be one of my favorite projects and one that taught me a great deal, Comprar en línea Lorazepam, comprar Lorazepam baratos, so I thought that I would re-live that project and share my experiences.

If I remember correctly, the email from Sarah was brief but it mentioned that the films were World War II era, black and white and really important, after Lorazepam. So of course, I was in. The films turned out to be “Roberto Rossellini’s War Trilogy” (“Rome Open City,” “Paisan” and “Germany Year Zero”), Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription. Lorazepam steet value, I hadn’t seen any of these films but a quick Google search made clear to me how important they were to the history of cinema, as well as to our collective history in general. Heavy stuff.

Upon watching the films I was immediately intimidated, Lorazepam trusted pharmacy reviews. Geniuses are intimidating, and Rossellini was, Lorazepam wiki, undoubtedly, a genius. Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, The films are absolutely deserving of their acclaim and I too fell in love with the collection. I felt humbled to be working with such amazing material as well as a responsibility to take good care of it.

ROC - Round 01
Once I started to design I immediately gravitated towards the amazing imagery within each film, Lorazepam images. It was just too good to resist. Images this powerful and direct are rare, Where can i buy Lorazepam online, and it was a pleasure to incorporate them into some cover ideas. Typographically I wanted to use a different type style for each film to set them apart from one another, but to use similar devices and layouts to tie the set together, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription.

After a couple days of work I put together my first pass. I looked it over and thought to myself “Dude, you nailed it, buy Lorazepam online cod. You are such a great designer. Bravo!” Pat. Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, On. Purchase Lorazepam online no prescription, The. Back.

I had, in fact, Lorazepam pics, not nailed it. There’s no denying that the covers are beautiful, Lorazepam from mexico, which is owed entirely to Rossellini’s eye, but the reaction from Sarah and Peter Becker at The Criterion Collection was that the covers didn’t bring anything new to the story of these films. While the imagery was new to me, to film buffs and The Criterion Collection’s audience, these images have been associated with these films since they were released after WWII, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription. So presenting the images alone with some period type was not doing this story justice. The story wasn’t just about the plots of the films, discount Lorazepam, it was about the fact that these films had never been released on DVD, now they were fully restored, Buy generic Lorazepam, complete with in-depth extra features and commentary. These films were being re-born so that new and returning audiences could see them in a way that had never been experienced before. The covers needed to set this edition apart from all previous releases of these films.

Paisa Round 1 Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, That realization took the wind out of my sails a bit. I scrambled and wasn’t really sure what to do, Lorazepam schedule, so I focused on one film and pushed some things around, hoping for a spark. Lorazepam gel, ointment, cream, pill, spray, continuous-release, extended-release, The film I started with was Germany Year Zero, mostly because I liked the type treatment that I had developed in the first round. I took a step away from the imagery and thought about what this film really represented. To me, buy Lorazepam without prescription, it represented starting over. It was about being reduced to rubble and starting again, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription. Subtraction. Lorazepam pharmacy, GYZ - Round Two
Out of that mess of desperation one cover struck a nerve. It was a scribble of charcoal that I made, photographed and put type over. Sarah and Peter liked the immediateness of the image, Lorazepam no prescription. Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, Peter kept saying “Its the thing,” which I took to mean, that the scribble, the mess, the crumbly pile was a symbol for the film as a whole. The biggest thing that worried me about this cover was that it seemed so specific to that single film, "Germany Year Zero" and I couldn't easily imagine what the other covers could look like. Real brand Lorazepam online, What could be their "thing?" I started brainstorming everything from splintered wood, close up imagery of bricks, water... um.., Lorazepam over the counter. uniforms. All kinds of stuff, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription.

Of course we were not entirely ready to abandon photography just yet, Australia, uk, us, usa, so I created another set of covers that utilized the film imagery in a way that felt modern while playing up the newsworthy aspect of the films in a humanist kind of way. I juxtaposed images from the film with big, bold typography and chose a rounded typeface to make it feel more human and accessible.

I actually really liked these covers and for a moment I had hoped that they would be approved, Lorazepam class. I liked the colors and I was still really hung up on those images. Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, That being said, as I look at them now, I feel like the type and the imagery are really at odds with one-another. The type sits weird with image and it feels really lazy to me. Lorazepam photos, Hindsight... I am glad that we went down this path and made sure that this wasn't the direction that we ultimately wanted to go.

Luckily, along with the type heavy covers, purchase Lorazepam for sale, I also set out to create a series of covers that started with the scribble concept and didn’t use Rossellini’s imagery at all, but rather focused on a material or a “thing” that represented the film in a tangible, Buy cheap Lorazepam no rx, real way. Rossellini’s embracing of real, actual settings and imagery inspired me to make these covers as real as possible, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription. I wanted to create something that could represent what he had seen. For “Germany Year Zero” it was destroyed buildings and rubble in the streets. For “Paisan” it was the flag of the occupying American soldiers, Lorazepam online cod, and for “Rome Open City” it was a map of Rome, divided up into manageable sections by the Nazi invaders. Get Lorazepam,

Making the covers turned out to be a fun challenge. For “Rome Open City” I enlisted the help of my friend Yuri Ono Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, (as well as her cat, Mr. Bumpers). Yuri knows her way around a sewing machine and helped me to sew together a version of the divided map seen in the film. The jagged stitching was meant to feel crude and machined, Lorazepam interactions, symbolizing the inhumane way in which the Nazis controlled the people of Rome.

Rossellini was also a humanist, Lorazepam mg, and his stories are about the effects that events have on the real people who lived through them. My covers had no people on them, which concerned me, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription. So I did my best to add a human element without taking away from the concept. Within each cover is an element of noticeably tactile fabric that, to me, Lorazepam street price, represents a human touch.

For “Paisan,” which is mostly about the strained relations between American soldiers and Italian people, Buy cheap Lorazepam, I focused on a torn section of a scanned American flag. On the cover I centered the division between light and dark to denote the two different types of people and their forced connection.

The flag itself actually belonged to a friend of mine named Jim from back home in Nebraska. Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, While in my college years the band I was in played a basement show at his house. During the subsequent party I found this flag hanging precariously from his front porch, kjøpe Lorazepam på nett, köpa Lorazepam online. I thought that was no place for it and stuffed it into my guitar case. Once I sobered up I felt pretty bad about taking it and always intended to give it back, Purchase Lorazepam online, but never did. Jim passed away a year or so later and since then I’ve come to cherish the flag as a reminder of Jim. I especially enjoy seeing the cover of “Paisan” out in the world, at video stores, book stores and online, knowing that Jimmy’s flag is on the cover, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription.

Finally I needed to redo the “Germany Year Zero” cover to match the other two. So I set out to make some rubble, where can i find Lorazepam online. I tried broken and crumbled charcoal, I tried hammering bricks and rocks and eventually spent a morning scouring San Francisco’s construction sites in search of rock, Lorazepam duration, concrete and brick debris. Needless to say, my wife was thrilled when I used our living room to recreate the bombed streets of Berlin.

Shooting Rubble Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription, Presented with these two directions, Sarah and Peter had the courage to go for the more unexpected series and to let go of using Rossellini imagery for the covers. It was a bold move and one that I’m proud of them for making. I love both directions, but I felt like the materials series had a bit more weight and soul. I wanted to let the films speak for themselves and I think these covers set them up for that.

The final change was the ditch the strong yellow in favor of a more reverent silver color. I had always liked the yellow and intended for it to symbolize caution, you know, the whole history repeating itself thing, Buy Lorazepam Without Prescription. But it was deemed to distracting and placed too much emphasis on the Criterion branding. It was Sarah’s call and, ultimately, a good one.

It was a long road, but by the end of the project I was so proud of the work that we had done. Sometimes the first thing you create is the best. It springs out of some past experience or combines a few things to create something new. Sometimes, however, you really have to work at it and for me, the key to working at it is having the courage to experiment, the support of your collaborators and a willingness to persevere.

Great post! The ‘in progress’ shots of the cloth map of Rome and the rubble / tripod are a nice touch.

  2. Those turned out great! I always enjoy reading/seeing how designers go through the discovery process and arrive at their final piece. The extra effort and craft are inspiring.
